Immortalized in marble
On 11 April 2016 a monument to S.P. Nepobedimy, Hero of the Socialist Labour, general designer of guided weapon systems, was unveiled in the Federal military cemetery of the Ministry of defence of the Russian Federation (Mytischi, Moscow region). On this day two years ago Sergei Pavlovich passed away.
The function was attended by delegations from AO NPK KBM, AO TSNIIAG, Reagent NPTS, Nepobedimy's widow, his friends, colleagues, fellow designers.
The honour to unveil the monument was given to V.A. Konovalov, KBM first deputy general designer, and V.L. Solunin, TSNIIAG deputy general director.
During the public memorial service a great deal of warm-hearted words were said about this outstanding person who had dedicated his life to the development and consolidation of his motherland's missile shield. Sergei P. Nepobedimy was the author of 28 missile systems of different types: tactical, short-range ballistic, antitank, man-portable air defence, active protection systems.
Sergei P. Nepobedimy was the corresponding member of the Russian Academy of sciences, full member of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery sciences, PhD (in Engineering). For outstanding achievements in the field of military equipment development he was awarded three Orders of Lenin, Order of the October Revolution, various medals, as well as the Lenin prize, three State prizes of the USSR, and the prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. He was conferred the title of the Honoured designer of the Russian Federation.
His design solutions were hallmarked by audacity and novelty thus becoming the world's best.
At the same time, a stand was opened in the Memorial complex dedicated to Sergei Pavlovich Nepobedimy describing his weapon systems and his contribution to strengthening this country's defence capabilities.
